Goodness this is my first blog of the year. I so love writing here but it does get neglected when there is stuff going on elsewhere, and I haven’t been idle I promise!
If you receive my newsletter you will know that a Stitch-along is currently underway, with my Stitchery Sampler Cloth as a base.
Every Monday a pre-recorded class is uploaded to the online studio for you to watch at your own convenience. The sampler is in a grid format with 18 boxes so at the end there will be 18 classes to watch. All have lifetime and unlimited accessibility so that you can watch them and stitch along whenever you like.
It isn’t too late to join - we’re just on week 11 at the moment which was French knots. We’ve done buttonhole stitch, whipped stitches (with a chain stitch bonus tutorial!) herringbone and seed stitch to name just a few. We have couching stitch, long-and-short, satin stitch and basket weave still to go!
The class is available in my online studio for everyone who has bought the Stitchery Sampler kit either recently or in the past. You can sign up here. If you’d like to buy the sampler kit too then you can order it in the Embroidery Kits section of this website here.
With each class lasting 40-60 minutes, the demonstrations of each stitch are very comprehensive and there is a little bit of chat about thread types, new purchases, life, stitching and hobbies alongside it. We have a nice community of stitchers who comment and chat, it’s really very lovely and very relaxing!
Once the class ends on 18th May the introductory price of £3 per class will end, entry will close and the course will be re-released in the Autumn as a complete online course at a higher price of £79. If you were considering doing it later in the year then it would be more cost-effective to buy it now and access the classes when you’re in a position to start stitching.
This week I shared a little set of scrappy fabric beads that I have become obsessed with since seeing the work of a new Stitchery friend at the studio socials. They are easy, relaxing and nice little drops of creativity in busy, worrying days. I am hoping that I can persuade Sophie to do a little class with me - or let me share with you (I think she might be camera shy!)
The sampler kits come with a selection of five DMC threads - I am using the rosy pinks set, but you are encouraged to supplement the kit with your own favourite threads or new fancy ones that you’d like to practise stitching with. I have used a little silk from Au ver a Soie as well as Nona botanically-dyed cotton, Sajou gold thread and some variegated over-dyed thread.
Hope you can join us!
Love
Nicki xx
